WHAT IS TRUTH?
No doubt countless people have asked this question, and numerous more have attempted to answer it. But while many profess to search for the truth, few actually do. The title for this subject was taken from the words of Pontius Pilate (John 18:38). He spoke those words with the “Truth” – the Lord Jesus Christ – standing right in front of him, which is usually how the question is asked.
In our modern society, few believe in absolute truth. The lost and many even Christians apply Einstein’s theory of relativity to it. They insist that each individual determines the truth for himself. Clichés that illustrate this belief include “What is true for you, might not be true for me” and “Everybody has their own beliefs.” While these platitudes may be appealing, they are deceptively wrong.
The Bible is absolute truth, and as such, declares truth in an unequivocal way. The Bible never endorses this philosophy of “relative truth” but rather makes a clear demarcation between God and Satan, good and evil, and heaven and hell.
Jesus Christ Himself said that the God of the Bible is the “true God” (John 17:3). Since God is the only true God, then not only is man a liar (Rom. 3:4) but every other “god” in every other religion is a false god.

And others were written for the local newspaper here in Monticello Florida. These articles cover a variety of subjects. Some are inspirational and devotional, while others are polemic and doctrinal. We hope you receive a blessing from the biblical teachings presented in these articles.

Standing on the

The Lord Jesus also believed and taught that the Bible is absolute truth (John 17:17). He believed what David wrote in Psalm 119:160 – “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”
God wants all men to know the truth and be forgiven of their sins and saved from hell (1 Tim. 2:4). But rather than accept the truth, man runs from it. God has given us a perfect absolute revelation of truth – the Bible, but unfortunately many would rather believe a lie. Some have even resorted to “chang[ing] the truth of God into a lie” (Rom. 1:25). Instead of accepting the very words of God, they try to “pervert the right ways of the Lord” (Acts 13:10).
You can know the truth as an absolute certainty. The truth is not relative and dependent on interpretation or opinion! The God who created you seeks to save you from your sins and hell. He has given you the truth in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the written revelation of the Bible. Why not turn from all the lies of false religion (salvation by works and deeds) and turn to the God of the Bible. Jesus Christ died for your sins. You cannot save yourself. If you reject the Lord Jesus Christ you will spend eternity in hell and the rest of your life enslaved to “relative truth.”
Jesus said “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32).
