The Price of Neglect
© 2007 Dr. David E. Walker
There was a lady who began noticing a few bees buzzing around the attic vents of her home. Since they were few in number she wasn’t concerned and made no effort to deal with them.
The summer passed by and still the woman did nothing about the ever growing city of bees in her attic.
The entire attic had in fact become a hive, and the ceiling of the bedroom finally caved in under the tremendous weight of hundreds of pounds of honey and literally thousands of angry bees.
Thankfully the woman escaped injury, although the damage done to her house was almost irreparable. Her neglectful attitude eventually cost her.
We are the same way. We hear preaching against sin. We read the Bible and it condemns sin. We know that the bees of sin are gathering in the attic of our hearts and minds, but we fail to do anything about it. The payment of neglect will eventually come due.

The following articles were written by our Pastor Dr. David E. Walker. Some were written specifically for this website. Some were written sermons that Pastor Walker preached here at Calvary Baptist. And others were written for the local newspaper here in Monticello Florida. These articles cover a variety of subjects. Some are inspirational and devotional, while others are polemic and doctrinal. We hope you receive a blessing from the biblical teachings presented in these articles.

Standing on the

Maybe you are aware of sin in your life. Maybe you have felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit, reproving you for your sin, but you have refused to deal with it. One day the ceiling is going to cave in. The Bible says, “be sure your sin will find you out” (Num. 32:23). The tragedy is not that the ceiling is going to cave in, but that you didn’t have to let it go that far. You can come to Jesus Christ with your sin, and He will wash you clean. The Bible says, “ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isa. 1:18).
Why don’t admit that you are a sinner in need of a Saviour? Why don’t you quit pretending you can’t hear a buzzing in the attic of your heart? Please, be honest and face the problem of sin before the price of neglect comes due. Receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour before it is everlasting too late.
